TORONTO

For the first time, Nestlé employees across Canada will be participating in a coordinated, week-long volunteer effort to support local community initiatives through the company’s newly launched Nestlé Cares volunteer program. Together, through partnerships with local organizations across the country, Nestlé employees will donate their time and talents to activities primarily focused on supporting their neighbours, neighbourhoods and communities where they live and work.

“Our employees are very passionate about their communities and this program is encouraging everyone to work together to support the organizations they truly care about at a local level. As a large company, we know that when we come together we can have a more significant impact,” said Shelley Martin, President & CEO of Nestlé Canada. “Every day, we are driven by our purpose to enhance the quality of life and contribute to a healthier future and this program exemplifies that commitment.”

With 20 sites spanning the country, each Nestlé business in Canada is providing support to an organization local to where they operate. Throughout the week, over 1,000 employees, will spend more than 3,000 hours participating in a variety of activities including:

  • Nestlé Canada employees are volunteering at various food banks across Canada.
  • Galderma, Nestlé’s skin care business, is participating in the Galderma Walk for Camp Liberté, supporting camp programs for children with moderate to severe skin conditions.
  • Factory locations including the London Ice Cream Factory are assembling hygiene kits made up of recycled products to be distributed to local shelters and food banks.
  • Purina PetCare Canada employees are helping out at local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and shelter locations across the GTA supporting the pet community with cleaning, facility maintenance and pet enrichment activities.
  • Employees at the Nestlé Confectionery factory in Toronto are participating in roadside clean ups and gardening activities.
  • Nestlé Waters Canada is proud to participate in the bi-annual Adopt-a-Road program, and its factory employees will be assembling hygiene kits to deliver to local shelters.
  • Nespresso Canada employees are volunteering at the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie event in Montreal with some participating in the cycling race.

In addition to the coordinated activities, employees also have the opportunity to support an organization they actively volunteer with.  Nestlé will continue to strengthen the relationship with their respective communities and ensure this coordinated volunteer initiative is a yearly occurrence.
