Leslie Chester, chief marketing officer, Nestlé Canada, was recognized as one of this year’s Star Women in Grocery by Canadian Grocer magazine for her excellence in leadership, innovation and dedication to the grocery business.
Canadian Grocer recognized Chester with this award because of the positive contributions she has made across the frozen food business at Nestlé, like bringing Buitoni Pizza to the Canadian market and supporting the acquisition of Delissio Pizza, both which accelerated Nestlé Canada’s growth in the frozen meal aisle.
Her devotion to knowing and understanding Canadian consumers and her drive to improve existing products and create innovative food offerings has been a key factor to her success. Recently, Leslie supported the creation of a new Canadian innovation, Lean Cuisine Fresh Inspirations, which was exclusively designed to meet the needs and wants of Canadian consumers.
“Leslie is an inspiring leader,” says Janis Wentzell, a technical services manager at Nestlé Canada and one of the group of employees who nominated Chester for this award. “Her passion and collaborative spirit are contagious, and motivate all those around her to think big, rise to the challenge, and push harder to achieve goals once thought impossible.”
This is Canadian Grocer’s second annual Star Women in Grocery Awards. The Awards recognize the important role women play across the grocery business in Canada. Winners are nominated by industry and selected by Canadian Grocer magazine editors and experts based on excellence in four key areas: influence, innovation, dedication, and leadership.
