Häagen-Dazs celebrates 50 years of flavour as only a super-premium brand can – with an inspired new look for the world’s finest ice cream

With Belgium chocolate, the finest hand picked vanilla beans and perfect strawberries that took six years to find – it’s no wonder Häagen-Dazs sets the standard of super-premium ice cream. As it marks a half-century, the iconic brand introduces a new look to carry the world famous Häagen-Dazs logo and its quality recipes made from only the finest ingredients. And for a limited time only, it brings back two of Canada’s classic flavour favourites – Chocolate Chocolate Chunk and Pralines & Cream.

Inspired New Look. World’s Finest Ice Cream

On the outside, Häagen-Dazs has donned a modern take on its classic look. The updated packaging on ice cream and bars offers fresh, yet familiar design elements – vibrant colours, vivid imagery and a reinterpretation of its classic design. Developed with extensive research from its loyal consumers, Häagen-Dazs launches this inspired new look to the world this summer.

On the inside, the recipe for perfection has been left untouched. Each Häagen-Dazs flavour is still crafted without compromise – with the highest quality of ingredients sourced from around the world. There’s a reason why Häagen-Dazs has achieved the recipe for success – the finest ingredients make the finest ice cream.

All vanilla-based Häagen-Dazs ice creams are made with only the best natural vanilla extract. It took six years, but Häagen-Dazs Strawberry includes only the most perfect berries – Hoods and Totems from the Northwest United States. Each are “hugged” to release juices that are first blended into the ice cream before the fruit is folded in, unlike others that simply slice or mix berries into the ice cream. Every Häagen-Dazs recipe is developed with the same artistry – from an extra step to maximize flavours and natural colours to strict standards that ensure each flavour’s freshness. Even today, all of the fresh cream and milk that goes into each Häagen-Dazs ice cream is typically used within 48 hours of its arrival.

A Return of the Classics

In honour of the half-century celebration, two classic flavours take the stage this summer for a limited time. A chocolate lover’s dream come true, Chocolate Chocolate Chunk is a deliciously rich recipe that combines Häagen-Dazs chocolate ice cream with fudge chunks. A true delight, Pralines & Cream infuses pure creamy vanilla ice cream with crunchy praline pecans and thick rich swirls of smooth gooey caramel.

“It seemed only natural to celebrate the brand’s 50th by bringing back two well-loved ice cream flavours,” says Varughese. “A top 10 Häagen-Dazs flavour, Chocolate Chocolate Chunk, and a classic scoop shop flavour, Pralines & Cream, return after more than a seven year absence in Canada.”

Fifty Years of Firsts

Founded by Reuban Mattus, Häagen-Dazs has sought to innovate and bring new ice cream experiences to its customers. The son of a Polish immigrant, Mattus’ dream was to craft an ice cream of superior quality and unequaled taste. In 1960, he introduced the world to the first super-premium ice cream line, Häagen-Dazs, with the introduction of three classic favourites that remain favourites today – Vanilla, Chocolate and Coffee.

Since 1982, Canadians have enjoyed this super-premium ice cream. From product to packaging to flavours, Häagen-Dazs is responsible for some of the most notable introductions in the ice cream industry. After its induction to the world of ice cream lovers, it was the first to bring a line of ice cream bars in 1986.
