Teens Talk, but is Canada listening?

KHP Teens Talk

As a founding partner of Kids Help Phone, Nestlé Canada proudly supports Kids Help Phone’s efforts to improve the well-being of children and youth in Canada by providing them anonymous and confidential professional counselling, referrals and information through technologically-based communications media.

Every year, Kids Help Phone conducts a nation-wide survey of teens to better understand the challenges they face. They share these results to engage all Canadians in an important dialogue about how we can all make our country safer, healthier and friendlier to young people. The results for 2016 are cause for great concern.

One in five teens in Canada reported that they had seriously considered suicide in the last 12 months and of those teens, almost half had formulated a plan (how, when and where). They also found that the online search habits of teens reveals a lot about their well-being. So while they may not speak to anyone, their fingers are doing a lot of talking. The question is, are we listening?
