This year, World Breastfeeding Week in Canada is October 1-7, with the theme Breastfeeding and Work: Let’s Make it Work.
Balancing work and family life can be challenging. Whether a woman is working at home or returns to her employment, it is necessary that she is empowered to breastfeed and provided with ongoing support, to help her ‘make it work’.
At Nestlé, we are passionate about babies and want what’s best for them. And we strongly believe that breast milk is best. That’s why, Nestlé Canada supports the World Health Organization and Health Canada’s recommendation of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, and sustained for up to two years or longer with appropriate complementary feeding. This is important for the nutrition, immunologic protection, growth, and development of infants and toddlers.
For those moms who cannot or choose not to breastfeed, we believe in an informed choice and we support the joint position set out by Health Canada, Canadian Paediatric Society, Dietitians of Canada and the Breastfeeding Committee of Canada. This position is outlined in their
Nutrition for Healthy Term Infants document.
As World Breastfeeding Week launches in Canada, Nestlé Nutrition has developed an infographic
that includes informative statistics on breastfeeding in Canada, the benefits of breastfeeding and helpful resources to provide support and help answer any breastfeeding questions. This infographic poster has been proudly shared by Nestlé Nutrition’s Medical Sales Team with over 800 medical offices across the country.
