Toronto, ON

Canadian Grocer Magazine announced today that Alison McLean, Vice President, Nestlé Health Science, Nestlé Canada, has been recognized as one of the Star Women in Grocery in 2014 for her excellence in leadership, innovation and dedication across retail sales, consumer packaged goods and the health care industry.

Canadian Grocer awarded McLean as a star woman in grocery because of her ‘triple threat’ approach, leveraging mastery, chemistry and delivery regardless of her role or focus throughout her diverse career within the food industry. Over the past two years, McLean has led the Canadian arm of the Nestlé Health Science business, which has overachieved internal targets and outpaced category performance, accelerating Nestlé Canada’s position in healthcare nutrition.

“Alison leads her team with integrity and a drive to succeed, while fostering a passion to truly make a difference in the lives of Canadian patients,” said Shelley Martin, CEO and president, Nestlé Canada. “Knowing the retail and healthcare environments as intimately as she does, Alison has a 40 foot view that provides unique insights and creates a win-win-win situation for Nestlé, our customers and our consumers.”

McLean continuously builds on the foundation she has set over the course of her career, but has the ability to embrace new ways of thinking and tackle new challenges with fresh ideas. When Target entered Canada, Alison played an instrumental role leading her team and guiding this key customer through new territory, while building a strong relationship that resulted in success for both Target and Nestlé.

This is Canadian Grocer’s third annual Star Women in Grocery Awards. The Awards recognize the important role women play across all areas of the grocery business in Canada. Winners are nominated by industry and selected by Canadian Grocer magazine editors and experts based on excellence in four key areas: influence, innovation, dedication, and leadership.
